As a local landscaping design firm, Aardweg Landscaping on the Philadelphia Main Line has been a Philadelphia Flower Show enthusiast for years! Enhancements to the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show will be key to this year’s success. Building on what has made the Flower Show great over the years, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has gathered Flower Show enthusiasts and local experts and developed a wide array of changes to come this year.
Quoting from a PHS publication summarizing the changes, “The theme of the Flower Show, “Hawaii: Islands of Aloha” will introduce a tropical experience that blends next-stage digital technology with the natural beauty and rich culture of the islands.” The following features have been added to the Sunday, March 4 through Sunday, March 11, 2012 “Hawaii: Islands of Aloha” show:
Technology Upgrades and Enhancements.
The 2012 Flower Show will feature many new technology upgrades and enhancements, including a spectacular Center Feature with sculptural forms transformed into breaking waves and lava flows; Mobile apps for Smart phones and Tablets to provide Flower Show information; and an Online Store to purchase Flower Show or PHS logo products.
Competitions, Lectures and Demonstrations.
The Designer’s Studio will introduce flower varieties and inspiring designs and include more daily competitions and floral design demonstrations than last year; and free lectures and demonstrations on topics such as sustainability, green roofs, organic gardening, edible landscapes, and more.
Hawaiian Village Shops, Crafts, Themes and Culinary Specialties.
The Hawaii Village will offer demonstrations, crafts and merchandise in the Grand Hall that highlight the people, plants and culture of Hawaii. There will also be a Hawaii-themed restaurant at the center of the exhibition hall, and special Hawaii cocktails at the beverage stations.
The 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show is less than a month away, be sure to purchase tickets and make reservations for the special exhibits, competitions, shows and demonstrations you plan to visit this year.
