After the success of last year’s event, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has announced that it will be holding another Fall Garden Festival this year. The date is Saturday, September 22, 2012, and this free event will take place at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, located at 4747 South Broad Street.
The festival highlights local businesses and nature in unison. There will be numerous vendors selling food and beverages, crafts, and artistic, garden and landscaping items; while the beauty of the region’s plant life will be proudly displayed throughout the Navy Yard.
Local produce gardeners can enter their harvest into the Garden Giants contests that reward the biggest pumpkin, tomato and other fruits and vegetables. Alternatively, floral gardeners can enter their best arrangement of fall annuals and perennials in the Garden Bounty contest. The food collected from these contests will be donated to the PHS City Harvest program, which benefits the hungry in our community.
Children’s activities, designed to engage young ones in gardening and the beauty of nature, will be available throughout the day. In addition, there will be several garden workshops, where homeowners can learn how to implement some of the most popular landscaping ideas into their own outdoor spaces.
While there will be several plant and seed vendors on location, PHS members have access to free plants from the Plant Dividend. There are also several other exclusive member benefits, including advance tree sales.
Aardweg Landscaping is excited about this event, and looks forward to discussing the many ideas that home and business owners will discover at the PHS Fall Garden Festival. Whether you find inspiration while attending workshops, or simply by experiencing the festivities, we can help turn your landscaping ideas into reality!
