Planning a new landscape design for your Main Line property? When envisioning new garden and landscaping ideas, it can sometimes be difficult to determine what the finished result might look like.

The latest trend in landscape design is the 3D photographic image design – it shows you a before and after view of your property, with and without the new plantings. Using 3D photographic image designs, you can determine whether or not you’ll be pleased with the finished result, thereby preventing you from having a garden you’re unhappy with later.

How Does 3D Photographic Image Design Work?
We begin by taking photographic images of your property to show you what it presently looks like. After that, we’ll sit down and discuss landscaping ideas with you to get a better idea of your dream garden. Next, our landscape design expert will determine which plants will thrive well in the new garden area. We’ll then use computer imaging to add pictures of these plants according to the design concept, so you can get an idea as to what your landscaping will look like.

Advantages to Using Photographic Image Design
There are numerous advantages to using 3D photographic image design. In particular, it enables you to see images of the preliminary design plans. If you’re not pleased with the original design, you can make revisions. For example, you just might find that a formal garden isn’t well suited for your property, or that certain hardscaping features require more emphasis.

Here at Aardweg Landscaping, quality design is of major importance. With more than 35 years in the landscape design and installation business on the Main Line, we have added scores of satisfied clients who now enjoy their unique and attractive garden landscaping designs. For more information on how we can help you turn your landscaping ideas into a reality, feel free to contact us today by telephone at 610.355.0703.

One of the truly inspirational and enjoyable design concepts on the list of Main Line landscaping ideas is using recycled items in the garden. Have you considered using recycled objets d’art in your landscaping?

Here are a few ideas our Aardweg Landscaping design team recommends as recycled and repurposed items in your garden–to give it a personalized, humorous and nostalgic appeal. If your landscape design includes climbing plants, consider using an old bed rail, ladder, screen door or tall window to serve the function of a trellis. You can either paint the trellis an unusual color for a contemporary look, or leave it in a rustic state for a realistic, natural appearance.

Landscaping ideas include planters made from objects such as old colanders, boots, wooden boxes and even wagons. No matter what your garden portfolio consists of, you can easily incorporate vintage planters into a new landscape design. You can also choose to create bird feeders out of old light fixtures, pots, dishes or even a bathroom or kitchen sink.

Hanging items on a fence, garden shed or the exterior walls of your home can be a fun way to add a splash of color to your garden. In a formal garden, your landscaping ideas could involve adding a vintage mirror to visually enhancing the space. Informal or cottage style gardens might be the ideal spot for a collection of old plates, bottles or birdhouses.

Making a potting bench from reclaimed materials is often one of the more popular uses for recycled or repurposed items. Old lumber may be used to build a frame, which can be covered with a recycled countertop and sink. Create a back for it from an old window frame to help add a touch of nostalgia.

Aardweg Landscaping can help you take your landscaping ideas and turn them into a  beautiful work of art you will be proud to show off to family and friends. If you are seeking ideas for landscape design, and would like to know more about the landscaping process, contact Aardweg Landscaping today, by telephone at 610.355.0703.

Landscaping Your Main Line Home: A Good Investment in Your Property

If you’re planning to sell your Main Line Philadelphia home, you may be wondering what types of improvements would provide you with a good financial return on your home investment upon resale. According to home renovation expert Bob Vila, the right landscaping can increase your home’s value substantially — some experts say by as much as 5 to 15 percent. As one of the leading landscaping companies in the area, Aardweg Landscaping can help you create a look that is sure to draw in potential buyers.

Up to 10 percent of your home’s value can be wisely spent on landscaping and hardscaping design and installation. The work often goes beyond simply adding plants, as landscape design includes lighting, hardscaping, and water features. When all of these elements are combined in a landscape design, the stunning result helps your property stand out from every other one in your neighborhood. If your property needs to be screened for privacy you may consider having this done before placing it on the market to make it more attractive to potential buyers.

Landscaping Ideas for Small YardsWhat is the ROI on landscaping? BHG.com says, “…5-15 percent is only a rough guideline based on averages. Generally, more expensive homes have greater potential to increase in value from a well-designed and well-installed landscape. Remember that hardscape features (which can cost big bucks) such as pavers, stone walls, decks, and patios — are part of the landscape investment.”

Qualified landscaping companies such as ours will begin with an assessment of your property. This initial assessment will involve looking at your terrain features and existing plant life in order to establish a basic plan. We proceed to work together with the homeowner to create a stunning design you will love. Homeowners often look through our portfolio of completed projects in order to identify favorite plants and design strategies. The homeowner’s opinions and preferences are of utmost importance in the design process.

At Aardweg Landscaping, one of Philadelphia’s leading landscaping companies, we desire to help you achieve a beautiful garden regardless of whether you are looking to sell your property, or not. You may plan to remain living in your cherished home for years to come, why not create a gorgeous garden to enjoy! Feel free to browse through the portfolio on our website, and then contact us to get started developing your Main Line landscaped garden plan, by telephone at 610.355.0703.

Landscaping Ideas to Dress Up Your Main Line Home

Adding curb appeal doesn’t just benefit you if you plan to sell your home, it will enable you to get more enjoyment out of your property. When you come home at the end of a long day, seeing your beautiful garden will tend to brighten your spirits. The right landscaping is also one of the best ways to boost property values. Here are a few landscaping ideas for homes on the Main Line, for you to consider:

Front Porch and Walkway Improvements
Landscaping transformations accent the walkway leading to your home. Use varying shades and textures of plants to add interest to this area. Pair evergreens such as Cypress and Blue Spruce together, and then offset them with some purple Hydrangeas, Black-eyed Susans and red Geraniums for a lovely garden. Improving the look of your front porch can dramatically improve your curb appeal. Landscaping ideas for this area include adding potted plants, landscape lighting, flowering shrubs, stone walkways, and fragrant plants.  Potted Geraniums and Hostas placed near the stairs or entry, will offset your architecture nicely.

Water Features
Water features
are landscape favorites that can be suited to any budget. The landscaped garden may feature a plain, self-contained fountain in a low-maintenance flower garden; or a large, flowing waterfall. The serene sound of running water turns your backyard into a garden sanctuary.

Outdoor Living
Create a permanent outdoor living space with brick pavers underneath a shade tree in the center of your lawn, or near the back door. You can also create an informal patio near the side entrance to your garage, near a deck or favorite garden area. A covered outdoor living area gives you greater comfort when you are outside and makes your backyard a more inviting gathering place no matter the weather. A plush seating area under a lighted pergola or gazebo makes a perfect day and night destination for you and your family. Outdoor rooms can actually work well in the front yard, too.

Here at Aardweg Landscaping, we are experienced in designing gardens to complement a variety of architectural styles and terrain features. Feel free to browse through our portfolio in order to get some  landscaping ideas for homes on the Main Line. Mix and match different features to come up with something unique, and contact us to discuss our landscape design and landscape installation services available to residents of Philadelphia area communities.

At Aardweg Landscaping, we are not satisfied until you are. We’ll go through every step of the design process with you very carefully in order to insure that you are completely satisfied. For a consultation, contact us today by telephone at 610.355.0703.

Tips For Repairing a Dry Lawn Along the Main Line

Although we have experienced more rainfall this year, this past week is a good reminder of how hot and dry it can get in the summer along the Main Line.  When we’re facing a dry period, lawns become dry and turn brown. Caring for a dry lawn will require a diligent effort if your landscape is to return to its once vibrant condition. Here are a few tips for repairing a dry lawn along the Main Line:

  • Mulch Dry Spots and Seed
Look for bare spots in your lawn, and loosen the soil around them with a shovel. Add a grass seed mixture and water it as needed. After doing so, you may want to cover the area with a thin layer of straw in order to protect the seed from getting washed away by heavy rain.
  • Add More Seed Throughout
Seed areas of a dry lawn where grass has become especially thin. Use the same seed mixture you applied on your bare spots; however, you don’t need to loosen the soil first. Simply spread the seed and then water carefully in order to spur new growth.
  • Provide Nutrition
Once you have seeded your lawn, it’s essential to add the right nutrients if your grass is to flourish. One that is high in nitrogen can be a good choice for encouraging the growth of new grass. It’s also important to choose the right type of grass seed, and some good choices for this area include Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, garland and zenith.

Landscape Design for a Dry Lawn
If your lawn is especially damaged, consider a new landscape design to help you disguise bare areas. Rather than planting grass, you may desire to create a perennial garden or add water features such as a fountain. Since new grass can take some time to sprout, revamping a landscaping could be preferred, since doing so will help disguise problem areas much sooner.

In order to prevent your lawn from becoming dry in the future, consider landscape maintenance by Aardweg Landscaping. Here at Aardweg Landscaping, we review every aspect of the landscape maintenance services process with you. For more information on how we can help with a dry lawn, contact us today.
